I don't think I've watched a new marvel movie since Love & Thunder
Ohh you talked about that before right? Cursing and throwing stuff or something?I agree with all this. I was looking forward to seeing super dickhead Namor
Though also I couldn't really focus on the film as I feared for my safety from a bunch of cunts in there
True in some cases, but if you stray from the source material too much, there’s little point in using the character imo. They’ve done great things with some characters that I didn’t care for (Mantis for example). But Namor was so far off it was extremely disappointingI was never a huge comic reader, and I think that's a shitty way to judge the movies tbh. they don't need to be "comic accurate". plenty of comics stray from other versions of characters. Just bc it's different doesn't make it bad. but that's my two cents. that being said the quality has certainly decreased recently
Completely agree. Re both Namor and mantisTrue in some cases, but if you stray from the source material too much, there’s little point in using the character imo. DreadfulTaskmaster was the worst butchering of a character
Ya I agree. Comic book characters are constantly being reinvented, so changing them up for movies is fine. But straying too far doesn't work. Excellent point! But if you do stray too far, and change the character too much then you might as well just create a whole new characterwhy does it have to be close to be good? is it bc it's actually good, or bc it has proximity to something you're familiar with?
Because to me, a “character” means they have certain characteristics that make them who they are. Not just names, appearance and powers, but personality, their approach to things, their way of speaking. If it’s too far off, then it’s not that character anymorewhy does it have to be close to be good? is it bc it's actually good, or bc it has proximity to something you're familiar with?

It was completely off. Ruined the whole movie for me.Because to me, a “character” means they have certain characteristics that make them who they are. Not just names, appearance and powers, but personality, their approach to things, their way of speaking. If it’s too far off, then it’s not that character anymore
For someone who didn’t know Namor from the comics, sure it doesn’t matter, and if they enjoyed it that’s great. But for me, who does know the character from the comics, it was very frustrating and helped ruin the movie
