It makes a certain amount of sense to show the second person bc that's where their total time was determined and the second person just happened to be the man bc of how the event was designed, but it sure didn't look good optics-wise

Ya. Thats genuinely dumb. If you're covering the sport, cover the sport.

Yes and no! There's been so much work done recently to get parity in the Olympics with adding more women's events to previously male-only sports (like ski jumping for example) and adding more mixed events so that men and women can compete together, and giving beach volleyball players the option to cover up more...so I feel like there are definitely people behind the scenes and a lot of the athletes themselves who take women athletes seriously

The media tho? Well they make a lot of noise about it, but then they do things like this
