Pyrate

Out over the sea, moving through the fog, silent as a ghost, is a large sailing ship; a schooner, with black sails. The ship is obscured by the fog as it passes, a fog that surrounds and closes in on the black ship except for the black flag on the mizzen-top, the frightening skull and crossbones flag of the Jolly Roger. The skull appears to TURN and GRIN, the top of a billowing sail positioned regally in front. On the landward face of the sail, apparently high in the rigging, is a man for whom the term 'swashbuckling rogue' was coined. Suddenly, something below catches his attention. He jumps from the rigging and starts strapping on his belt; besides the scabbard and cutlass, it also carries a compass, an harquebus and small powder horn. Beneath a blue sky lies the bucolic Port city of Lord Calvert, second Baron of Baltimore, built on a natural inner harbor. On a bluff at the mouth of the inner harbor stands Fort MacHenry, its stone parapets lined with cannons. The skeletal remains of four pirates, still clad in buccaneer rags, hang from gallows erected on a rocky promontory. There is a fifth, unoccupied gallows, bearing a sign: PYRATES - YE BE WARNED. The Pyrate gazes keen-eyed at the display, raising a tankard in salute.
