Hello everyone. So my mind has been thinking about all the little pleasures I find in life. I thought I would list as many as I can remember, and see if anyone has any of the same. . Waking up in a strong pair of arms . That first sip of tea . A chocolate biscuit to dunk . Having my hair played with and brushed . Feeling a light breeze on my skin . Receiving a thank you . Finding money in my purse I didn' know I had . Getting the seasonings/flavourings just right when I cook/bake . Having my back scratched lightly . A long hot bath . Singing badly to my favourite tunes . Clean sheets on the bed . The feeling of my cat cuddling up to me in the night What are your simple pleasures?
3D-printing a big, hollow dinosaur for 10 hours and smashing it with a large hammer from 20ft away while wearing only slippers, socks, robe and a top hat, with a cigar in your mouth and a glass of Macallan 18 in your other hand.
Closing your eyes and feeling the summer sun on your face Your favorite smell that triggers a memory Floating on the lake in a tube listening to music.. Simple peace Hugging someone you love and feeling them hug you even tighter Seeing fireflies come out for the first time that year When your favorite song comes on the radio..or one you haven't heard in forever that you sing it loud and smile like a fool Snuggling a baby.. New life A message from someone you love ( And definitely that first sip of coffee )
My simple pleasure is the same as it was when I was a little girl. I have always loved the rain. And especially that time immediately following the rain. And I've always loved dancing barefoot in the puddles after the rain. I know that sounds silly to most. But is my simple pleasure. I love the smell and the feeling and I hope I never outgrow that. It reminds me of being a child, when simple pleasures made all that was wrong go away. Sometimes I don't want to grow up. So finding those simple pleasures allows me to escape all the bad things, even if temporarily. Simple pleasures are vital for all of us I think, no matter what others may think of them. Do what you do to make you happy. It's pretty simple.
One of my best childhood memories is playing with the neighborhood kids in the middle of the street after it rained.. It always flooded after a huge rainstorm.. I can close my eyes and still remember that wet pavement smell
EXACT same as me! I just love those memories. And it's amazing how our minds allow us to recall those memories with all the senses intact. You can feel the rain when you concentrate on that memory. You can hear the laughter. And you can smell that incredible scent of the air after the rain. Reminiscing is awesome.
Sitting with music playing and a glass of red. Hearing my grandson laugh at cartoons in another room. The smell of fresh bread being baked. A song that triggers a memory of something good from my childhood. Coming in from the freezing cold and feeling your skin tingle in the warmth. These things make me smile.
Opening the windows for the first time after a long winter Seeing the trees turn green and the flowers start to poke through the ground ( it's been a nasty winter in NY lol )
@FallenFreya this thread is really nice. And it's ongoing - we can all recall simple pleasures as they come up. Like now - laying in bed at 4:30 in the afternoon with all the stuff done that needed done today. Was gonna take a nap but got caught up in here but that's okay. This thread in itself is a simple pleasure. Thank you for starting it.
