How far should you let role-playing go? So you don't damage yourself or others.

I guess setting person limits is a good idea.

I had a role play which I don't usually do, it turned me on no end but it made feel uncomfortable afterwards. Nothing taboo or illegal just out side my comfort zone.

A good start:

Discuss Limits, safe words, preferences and comfort. That would be a good start. Any good RP is when both (or all, if more) the partners know exactly what is happening or if there is a room for mystery there should at least be basic transparency at all times.

● Time constraint is another thing that I have personally observed partners miss out on discussing.
● Expectations
All should be communicated with each other.

Either throughout the scene and before / after.

That's my take on it. Be it RP or any other sort of relation. Why not make a physical/ sexual relation just as important as we do our emotional ones. Prioritize your partner(s) and yourself, and then enjoy the yield.
