What came first, The chicken OR the egg?

My A: I believe we are all born of a mother so I reckon chicky came first, and anyway, If we are to be literal the word Chicken comes first in the question lol

 

Well we know chickens evolved from dinosaurs. So the better question is, at what point did a dinosaur become a chicken?

 

If the chicken evolved from another creature then surely the egg cane first ?

 

But did the first chicken lay the first chicken egg? Or did the chickens mom (who was not techically a chicken yet) lay the first chicken egg?

 

If the chickens Mum did not lay an egg .. then it isn’t truly a chicken. So still the egg

 

So the first chicken had to come from an egg. That egg could not have been laid by a chicken cause what was inside the egg was the first chicken. So did first chickens mom lay a chicken egg or a pre-chicken egg?

 

Ohhhh I’m going to say a chicken egg .... but do we call it where it came from or what is inside?

 

Alright, so if the chicken hatched from a chicken egg then it's not-chicken mom layed a chicken egg. If that's the case then the egg came first.

 

Chickens had to evolve first, obviously.

What laid the egg doesn't matter. Mutations happen all the time. If you can't grasp this, you're scientifically and logically illiterate.

So at what point do you call the thing evolving into a chicken a chicken? You have to draw the line somewhere.

 

When the thing that comes out of the egg is a chicken.

 

There are no lines to be drawn or crossed in evolution. There are only main lines, branches, sub-branches, sub-sub-branches and so on.

Mutations over time branch new things into sub-beaches. Dominant genes take over and you have a long, stable branch. Shitty gene combinations cause some branches with weak gene combinations to die off.

I'm no expert in evolution, but that is the basic reality of evolution.

Some thing laid a bunch of eggs with a slight mutation. Those things yielded things with dominant genes, things have done inbreeding, etc, and the genome became more "purified," or "chickeny" over long time.

 

Personally I think they were all eaten by shoggoths.

 

We don't need a theory. There's evidence.
