From someone that likes to run a lot, rucking is a great alternative. I still get a workout in, I avoid extra stress to my hips and knees (especially my knees), and I can still build some much needed muscle. What more could I ask for?
Bonus: you can do squats, push-ups and sit-ups with that vest. I think that's all that a person could need to stay physically fit, if used correctly and creatively.
I went rucking on Sunday while laundry was doing its thing and made a dumb ass mistake of taking on 40 lbs, instead of 20 lbs like suggested in the video. Let me tell you... No bueno.
I knew it was a mistake once I had to squat down to get laundry into a washing machine. LOL. Had to go home and unload 20.
Rucking is a staple part of my occupation. Most of us hate it in the moment, but it is a useful, and perishable, skill. I start with a slow progression from two miles up to 18 with a 35 pound pack.
