Mine would probably be drugs and alcohol, just because I have seen the effects. And I have seen how it can change one person completely and ruin there lives.
Good point. Any change would naturally disrupt an already existing pattern. But then again, there's another definition of the word economy, i.e., 'careful management of available resources'. Moreover, materialistic way of life is not a Necessity. There are hundreds of generations of monks and sages who have lived life in content, coexisting with the ecosystem. What has a food chain got to do with being materialistic? Non materialism may lower a regions economy but would never curb the demand for hunger. And also, I would rather deal with changes pertaining to man made things but never think of going against nature's way of working.
Emotions do define us as Human beings(Homo sapiens). And where I come from, we consider this mind of ours to be similar to that of a 'Monkey'! (The term Monkey Mind). All we gotta do is tame that monkey mind of ours, keeping our emotions in check, not let our emotions get the best of us(situational). xD
