No one said anything about old chat software being updated before you chimed in with your instrumental passive-aggressive drivel, what you thought was a perfectly executed "gotcha," except that you failed, look like a dick and received an appropriate rebuff. Thread was becoming a mess and valuable feedback was being diminished by all the noise. See the post—it perfectly explains why it's locked without the need to announce that it's locked, because the maintenance event is over, ya rude git.

knowledge is power, and the powerful cling to there power lest they fear they shall lose it. But, what is that to us? such things are above our ken and understanding. besides, this is all preludes to the end, and the beginning of the end. the old chat will finally die or be killed, and the new will be forced upon everyone. it's the nature of things. all that lives must die. that being said, i don't think i need to share in or understand certain things. keeping the lights on is a difficult task and performing maintenance without rendering the machine inoperable is a delicate operation requiring patience and skill. one day or three days, to have the beloved old server back? it's worth the wait
