Video-Game you loved that everyone hated

So I recently replayed through Mafia 3 and despite the issues that do plague the game I still really love it! I love the music, the setting, the driving, combat, characters, and an amazing story involving betrayal, revenge, and the racial discrimination that many black people faced during the 1960s. However, the game didn't gain positive reception from critics and fans but that doesn't matter to me because I love the game and thats all that matters!

So I'm wondering what game do you love that pretty much everyone else hated?

So a game that I played a lot growing up was Yugioh, Duelist of the Rose's. It was a new way of playing a card game that used a grid map and terrain and strategy, I loved it and I used to play it with my siblings and friends for a good time. It wasn't an amazing game by any means, but I loved the different style, the music and colours and the nostalgia behind it!

Fallout 4. I agree, the story was lacking but gameplay wise, I thoroughly enjoyed it. The shooting mechanics? Loved it. Base building? I sunk so many hours into that alone. Maybe I am bias because it was my first Fallout game to ever play? I don't know. But a couple of years later while browsing a pawn shop, I saw that they had Fallout 3 on the shelf. So I bought it. Played it. Then stopped playing it after I went through all of the DLC's. I have yet to play it again. That game bored me even after trying to enjoy it. But Fallout 4? I lost count at how many times I played it. Fallout 4 still gets shit on to this day and it seems that the fans of Fallout still claim that it's not a true "Fallout" game. I don't care. The game is fun to me. When I get my new PC, I'll be playing around with the Creation Kit for the first time to further my fun with that game. I'll also be buying a copy of Fallout: New Vegas so I can see for myself what it's all about.

My game would have to be Shadow the Hedgehog for the gamecube. It's considered one the worst 3D sonic games ever made. The shooting mechanic was especially criticized heavily, because of how poorly it functioned. But it is one od my favorite games from the gamecube era.

I too loved Fallout 4. I understood many of the criticisms against it as I've been playing Fallout games forever. I just felt that the old fans didn't want to give it a chance. It was different. Different doesn't have to mean bad. I'm just loving Fallout 76. I was convinced I was going to hate it because of the reviews. I held off for 2 years and now I regret not giving it a chance sooner.

I used to love an old fashioned one where you had to pilot a space shuttle but to do so you had to work out the orbital mechanics so it was almost a mathematical puzzle you had to solve in your head and of course the physics was counter intuitive so you had to mentally shift reference frames to do it well.

OK, so it probably didn't catch on because it wasn't all that flashy, but I loved it because I was good at it and everyone else just crashed because they tried to fly by intuition not by calculation.

Final fantasy mystic quest. My first ff game when I was maybe 6ish so it holds some nostalgia when I play the rom.
