Period Dramas....

Okay, so I started Harlots. So far I kind of love it, but I am only half way through the first one

Well someone has to, I guess:p Nah, I'm definitely in the minority on this one. Most people seem to really love it, and my friends think I'm nuts for not doing so. No change there then! haha

I am not sure whether you have heard of Indian Film Director - Satyajit Ray. I would recommend to watch his film - " Pather Panchali". Let me know your feedback on this.

Thanks to the 12 year old, I just saw this thread.

I cut the cord last year (2017), and it's afforded me the opportunity to check out a whole new world of programming, specifically on Hulu and Netflix. I love Taboo, but I have to wait for it to come out on Hulu now. Harlots started out good, but dwindled toward the end of the season. My favorite has to be Penny Dreadful on Netflix (Showtime series). It's a melding of famous characters from literature (Dracula, Dr. Frankenstein, Dorian Gray, etc.) set in London. I highly recommend it, if you're still looking.

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas is an excellent period drama set during the Holocaust. It is simultaneously uplifting and incredibly heart breaking, and it stays with you LONG after you watch it...

Jesus, I started thinking about this and realized that most of the movies in my collection can fall into this category. I guess I'll stick to a top 5
Gladiator
The Sting
Braveheart
To Kill a Mockingbird
Unforgiven
