@WomenRfromVenus Here is one off the beaten path; what is the WORST piece of advice you ever recieved?
I guess the first thing that comes to mind was over professional path. In college, I had my mind focused on Social Work or a Guidance Counselor. Atm, I had a friend little older than me working at the college. Also, I was taking Educator based courses, and was required to do observational hours in a classroom under a teacher.
Anywho, I chose my old 7th grade teacher/basketball coach to do my observational hours under. Him and my friend discouraged me from the path I wanted to take. He told me Id never get a job as a guidance counselor. So I should do a dual degree, and start teaching. Then when the position for Guidance Counselor came open, I could get the job. Well having to teach for years, to get to the place I wanted to be..didn't seem ideal. I had no interest in being an Educator.
The lady friend, said that there was no demand in my town for social workers. Id never find a job. If I did the pay would be extremely terrible and tbh, offensive for a Bachelor's degree.
Needless to say, I let them persuade me with negativity. And discourage my passion.
The most ironic part of all = at age 22 I left that town anyways and have never lived there since
But we don't know our future. We live in the "now". And don't always make the best decisions bc of that.
