Introducing myself...

Hi my name is Shawn...I would start with a joke but I'd probably tell you the punchline first and ruin it.

I'm 23 from Southern California. I work for a non profit teaching art at elementary schools to underprivileged or special needs children.

I like art, reading, trying to play instruments, movies, skating, a little surfing and snowboarding ( I'm not too good at them), eating, traveling, video games, drinking, sleeping, sitting around daydreaming, comic books, board games, playing or watching sports and music. There are other interests but that would make a too long list even longer.

I'm here cause sometimes when I'm home alone I get bored and just want some human contact. Growing up I was the chubby weird kid. After a certain point in high school and college I was just the weird guy...but I never left the chubby kid behind on the inside. So I can be awkward on line as much as I am in real life. Please don't hold that against me.

I've met some pretty cool and nice people here and I hope to keep meeting more.

Thank you for reading this.

Great intro ,I'm a official weird kid geek as well so i can relate. As jinxy puts it wear it with pride. Cool job and something to be proud of. Enjoy you time here mostly a good bunch.

Great introduction. I can relate to some, I was always a loner at school, and that has pretty much carried through into my adult life. As a writer, I tend to be a bit hermit-like, hiding in my darkened cave, producing pages of literary imaginings.

Thanks for taking the time to do it.

Ls x
Thank you. I know what you mean, I enjoy diving into books and sketchbooks to keep me company, just recently have I seen the need to come up for air and get to know the people around me.

I just want to add that as I've been lurking through forum and chat I've enjoyed reading your messages. You have a nice tone and a voice unique among the other posts. I guess even if I didn't see your pic or handle I can identify what you've written. I think that would be a challenge online at least to me. That was supposed to be a compliment...take whatever you can get from this failed English minor.

Thanks man. I'm worried that my weird kid past has slowly rubbed away externally...he is definitely front and center on the inside.

I do like my job. It keeps me sane and grounded in others reality. So I don't get too much into my self. I've definitely had a good time reading the writings of all these other quirky people.

Thank you for letting us get to know you better.

I was the chubby loner in secondary school (high school to you non english)
And I still kind of am today.

I hope you find what you are looking for on here.
Thank you for being willing to get to know me. Sometimes my sense of humor or even what I take serious doesn't make sense to others. It can be like a mine field out there for me.

Good to know a fellow chubby person. We have to stick together or who else are we going to share the good snacks with.

Hi there Shawn ! Welcome and have fun! Did you bring snacks ? :)
Thank you and I will do my best to have fun...and hopefully help others to have some fun too.

Do I have snacks? Former chubby kid here. My messenger bag for work looks like it's for paperwork and other adult stuff. But it's mostly full of snacks...alright it is just snacks with a few memos camouflaging snacks.

What kind do you like sweet, savory, salty, spicy, chocolates? I have pretty much a little of everything. It's also good for getting the little guys motivated to create.

You're welcome! Chocolate, but there is no "we" in chocolate ;) Some creativity would help, indeed. :)

Welcome from me as well. I also was considered chubby by Korean standards, it was not until I came to USA did I find out I was not chubby at all
Thank you or gamsahamneeda. I only learned how to say that annyonghasayo and chalmoket simneeda during my too brief trip to Korea. Sorry my phonetics are probably off...I know my pronunciation was off.

Your experience is interesting. It matches what a friend of mine from Korea had shared about growing up in Korea. She isn't chubby by any means and from her pictures from childhood you can see she definitely wasn't then either. Thanks for sharing your experience. I unfortunately was chubby even by American standards

The chocolate that I share is either individually wrapped, the bar is previously set for breaking apart or melted...how do you propose we share the chocolate?
