Look at this original text versus a new translation version. And for your own sake, grasp the difference.

King James Version
Deut 20: then all the people who are found in it shall be placed under tribute to you, and serve you.
Matthew 22: Tell us therefore, What thinkest thou? Is it lawful to give tribute unto Caesar, or not?

19 Shew me the tribute money. And they brought unto him a penny.

Clearly, tribute means to pay taxes
And clearly Romans controlled Israelite territory. Therefore Israel paid taxes unto Caesar.

Now let's read the New International Version:
Duet 20:
If they accept and open their gates, all the people in it shall be subject to forced labor and shall work for you
Matthew 22: Tell us then, what is your opinion? Is it right to pay the imperial tax to Caesar or not?”

Funny how they changed tribute to something completely different in Duet.
Yet in Matthew called it imperial tax?

The KJV isn’t the “original?” Like, I know that’s probably not what you mean, but you do realize that we have more archeological evidence then we did in back when the King James Version was written right? Like, we have versions of the Bible written closer to the time of the original source. So if every new versions translates differently from the KJV, it probably means that we have new information about the text, that may make the KJV outdated.

Trying to define a word by how it’s used in other places of a text is fine, but it’s not exactly very helpful when your taking about two books, written thousands of years apart by different authors.

I literally just fucking responded to your context argument. Please reread my last post more carefully.

Just to clarify, words can have more than one meaning, especially after thousands of years.

Also, I would like to add that I’m not sure if the word “tribute” in Mathew and the word “Tribute” in Deuteronomy are even the same word in the original Hebrew. I don’t speak Hebrew, so I’m not sure how to find this out.

If the Democratic party is becoming socialist, as you say, why would they choose Biden over Sanders? Is Biden showing signs of Marxist ideology now? I haven't seen a speck of it. And as far as totalitarianism, which party do people lean toward who oppose police brutality? (P.S. I identify as socialist)

But yes, if you don't have the stamina to endure critique, don't express yourself. That's your loss though, and I'm not saying you should do that. You need to respond to critiques, not get exasperated. Of course, we all need a break from time to time from the fight.

It was brutal imperialism by Rome over Israel. Many figures similar to Jesus were crucified, thousands of people were crucified before Jesus died.

Some describe what the Israelites did to the inhabitants of Canaan after Exodus as genocide. And that model was used by white colonists in North America.

Doesn't mean you have to throw out your bible, but these readings are fair I think.

The NASB is the best version. A newer version of the NASB is coming out in January 2021 call the Legacy Standard Bible. I will definitely be getting one of those. My bible's falling apart because I use it so much and it's about 12 years old now.
