I feel like this is a subject that doesn't get discussed as often as it should but the art of Gaming soundtracks, in my opinion should not be ignored. A great soundtrack can be a huge contributing factor in the over all quality of the experience of playing a game and can sometimes even be the only thing worth while in an otherwise crappy gaming experience.
Some examples from me personally are:
Almost any Legend of Zelda or just about anything Koji Kondo has ever worked on
Dark Souls or any Souls-like
Doom. Just about any Doom game, classic or modern
Streets of Rage, I prefer the first one but the second one's got some good tunes too
Banjo Kazooie or just about anything Grant Kirkhope has worked on
Literally the entire Donkey Kong Country series. Seriously, how's a game about literal monkey business have some of the best music in games?
And I can go on and on and on!
