Depends on the content of the picture. More detail means bigger file size.
You should be able to find an App to reduce the size.
I use Photo & Picture Resizer on Android. Free and easy to use., Don't know about iOS.

Good recommendation @OneKnight . I’ve also found if I’ve an original pic that’s too large, I can do a screen shot, open the screenshot, crop to just the photo and the result is a smaller postable file and then I just toss the screenshot once posted.

@Jinxy I use an app called Photo Compress (iPhone) on all of my photos. You can play around with adjusting the image size and quality,and have had no problem since doing that.
