Today I wanted to support an amazing human being - a man who won an Olympic gold medal for marathon swimming, after surviving cancer.
He's gone on to create a foundation for cancer research. He has swam the Dutch 200km Elfstedentocht (eleven city tour) several times now. But this week, he is doing it as a triathlon. Three legs of 200kms each.
Seeing him walk today, for the last 35 km's he had left to go, was painful, but inspiring. In a city nearby is a memorial for the first time, when he had to get out of the water because he was too sick too continue. Made a quick photo of that on the way back.
