Well, playing certain chords becomes impossible if you can't curl your fingers properly
True! Playing riffs where it's a lot of plucking one string at a time can definitely be done with long nails. Even with complicated riffs. But playing weird jazz chords and even some of the basic ones you just end up with a lot of muted strings
Yup, muting has its purposes, but sometimes it just doesn't work. That's why short nails are best. At least for the fretting hand
