Without getting into some political quandary.

Political or identity unions so British and European.

I'm English, and England is in a union to make Britain, which is part of Europe through geography and compared to a lot of the world I'm closer to Europeans in culture, morals and identity.

But I don't see European as a united identity purely because a Frenchman cannot really be an Englishman, an Englishman cannot really be a German, a German cannot really be an Italian and so on.

You can go native obviously, I could move to France, speak French, act as the French act but I'll always be an Englishman in France.

Apologies if over doing a simple answer.
 
That’s also why the Federal Europe they start to talk about will be a bit difficult to get. Although it would be interesting in terms of defense, mobility etc we are talking about several countries with hundreds or thousands years of history which is different from Russia and its oblasts, or the USA with the states.

I agree with Lurk about personally feeling French and European at the same time but I’ll always be French whether I go in a different country or no

True story: I went to bed after 10pm last night and woke up at 3:55am this morning to watch the final Olympics events live

This hockey game is still in the first period

I am dragging but I shall persevere

As soon as it's over ima take a nice long 3 hour nap before the closing ceremony
