Romantic.. A Woman's Definition

I'm just wondering, how do you 'plan' a romance? To me it happens or it doesn't. I've never been wined or dined and have never felt it necessary. In fact I only ever went on one 'date' in a formal sense, that was with my most recent ex and dating clearly is not my thing, to me it's like an interview with no ending...

Aside from the kissing romance for me is knowing my partner wakes up in the morning and the first thing she wants to do is talk to me/cuddle me depending on where we're at, that my welfare is her concern (to quote a song) and that she will strive to make my day easier in any way she can, she'll flirt with me throughout the day, she's got my back, and she will be honest and loyal. Or at least that's what I offer...

I don't need flowers or gifts or to be taken to dinner. These things are nice in a commercial sense but I can do all those things for my mum in a loving relationship with her...it's not romantic, more a sign of appreciation.

But it always starts with that first kiss...
Yes, there are 'acts of romance' and 'actual romance'.
There are movie cliches (romantic candlelit dinners etc etc) ....and/but to some women romance could be the guy who is lining up at Duane Reade openly carrying sanitary pads for his loved one...or arguing with the Macy's beauty section that his spouse's foundation shade isn't what they actually adamantly suggested.
To everyone her own.

Aw that's kinda sweet

A "good morning beautiful", a single daisy picked along the roadside on the way home, opening the car door for me, a look from across a crowded room, silly little things that mean the most like holding hands and making dinner together.

I don't know that there's anything we can offer as a general this is romantic suggestion. Each woman is different. What I would consider romantic surely isn't the same as what someone else would find romantic. A trail of rose petals leading to the bedroom? Fuck that shit. First off, I'm a lily girl, and if you destroy a bunch of lilies in some romantic gesture, I'm gonna be pissed. Dinner at a nice restaurant? Yea, I like to eat food, but I'll take a burrito over some lavender chutney covered piece of endangered wildlife in a reduced olive & caviar white wine sauce. I don't even know if that's a real thing.

In summary, do something meaningful to the person you're trying to be romantic with. Take me to my favorite restaurant, not some classy joint; unexpected delivery of lilies; do something I've been bitching at you about for months without me having to tell you, like rinse your fucking dishes off & put them in the washer instead of just leaving them in the sink every fucking night... stuff like that.
ALL CAPS BECAUSE THIS IS PERFECTLY SAID!!!
