Rt66 has been chopped up or replaced by I-55 and rerouted by other expressways, detours and abandoned sections over the years. There are SOME sections with a few diners and motels just like on any other US highway that isn't an expressway.

Go to Google Maps and use Street View to zoom along Rt66 before you spend any money on a huge hassle and disappointment.
