Automotive Advice on 1996 Ford F-150 XLT

Hello everyone,

I am looking for genuine advice on my 1996 Ford F-150 XLT. It's got the stock 5.8L (351 Windsor) V8 paired with a E4OD (4 speed automatic transmission) with rear wheel drive. After researching the vin number and vin history I've learned that the majority of the body and undercarriage were manufactured in Mexixo, shipped and assembled in Canada, then sent to Kanas where a 5.8L and e4od transmission were installed. Once it was finished, it was shipped to California as a specialty ordered vehicle. Inside the cab, there's a series of cables meant for a SAT phone to be usable.

Story out of the way, my questions for advice follow below as:

It's got over 316,946 miles on the odometer as of right now. I've got wiring issues with the starter switch/ignition switch. The switch itself is perfectly working, but, the part it's connected to so the wires are always lined up has been broken and several of the wires were cut jammed into the socket.

Is there anywhere online that I can order this wiring harness/pigtail connector/electrical connector for less than 75 USD?

Should I Invest in getting the existing engine & transmission (along with rear diff) rebuilt completely?

Should I just cut my losses and put a newer engine in it and newer transmission? (My thoughts have been full swap with a Ford M-6007-Z460FRT or M-6007-73 and an automatic transmission Also if wanted, I can pst a short list of some of the extra parts required to make the 460 function properly, I've .).

Unless you can obtain repairs/rebuilds for dirt cheap, with that sort of mileage, age and cost of rebuilds, I'd look into a newer, more fuel efficient vehicle.

Call around local junk yards to see if they have the same thing. You could just pull the harness from a junker.

If you call the dealer, they should be able to tell you the harness part number.
