Not to be argumentative but (which is a word that is used to start arguments although I'm not arguing just giving my insight) I have been called emotionally unavailable because I wasn't "there" due to working a lot. When I read it, it was as if she had wrote it to me. And that is why I spit coffee and replied the way I did. Listening and empathizing is not difficult for me, although it doesn't work over the phone, for her anyway.
