I would love hearing from you !!!
I am a DJ so my music collection
runs from the 40's up to 2000 !!

Boy, that's a real tough one. It probably really comes down to what each individual person grew up listening to and liking. Most of our music tastes are rooted in our early teens so for me, that would be the early to mid 70's. Having said that, most of my musical leanings were toward the blues and folk based music of the time and now in my middle age years, I still love the music and songwriting of that generation. But I have also found myself going back to the roots of that music I loved. The early blues and jazz influences and the folk music that has been handed down through many decades and even back to previous centuries.

It is highly subjective for most of us, and it depends on categorization.
For American pop/rock, I say 1962-1970.
Including those days the music died.

OMG.... that’s so tough to narrow down. From Classical to Rock there are so many styles of music that define our individual experiences, that also breakdown into genres of music specific to that era... and to decide which one is the best..... For me it would have to be House music from the late 70’s to mid 90’s. It defined my youth and culture. The beats and old school samples broadened my scope of music as a whole.

I'd have to say '77-82.
You could go to NY and see the Ramones, Patti Smith, Talking Heads,, Television.
Across the pond you would have the Clash, Sex Pistols, the Damned, Elvis Costello, it's endless.
Minneapolis for early Replacements and Husker Du.
Then down Austin Tx way you'd have the Outlaw county movement for good grity songwriting and stories.
My favorite era of music.

That's a good, but very subjective question. To be objective we would need to define "Best". Best era for music consisting of complex arrangements would be mid 18th - early 19th century classical music.

Best era for pop music would have to be the 70s, also the era of FM radio and AOR.

Best era for metal...the 80s, of course.

80s, but pretty much anything mid 50s-mid 90s was good.

I just hope that in the 2020s that the next trend is actual talent.

I have such broad tastes, I ballroom dance so there is a lot of swing-era, strict dance time stuff.
I like to listen to classical when I am home alone and writing.
I have an Aussie Country rock station set in the car.
For parties, anything that rocks, 60's to current day.

(Currently listening to the soundtrack from the opera 'Carmen' .. waiting for 'Los Toreadors' to start.. I really like that piece.)
