Clan of the Cave Bear I know, my mum was a keen fan of them along with the Dragons of Pern books. EE Smith, read a couple as well. Cherie Priests who steampunk series is amazing. She's a very talented writer who can convey solid emotions in people. I could go on with books I love. I'm sat at my PC looking at two bookcases overflowing with books..

I'm not a big reader, most reading these days is researching what I'm writing.
Some nights, I'll read 20 pages of a novel before sleep but that's about it really.

I put 'he Night Watch books by Sergei Lukyanenko' on my 'recommended list', thx.

I did read a couple of EE 'Doc' Smith Sci Fi's a couple of years ago.

Currently reading 'The Outlander' Series, Diana Gabaldon
Before that, the 'Clan of the Cave Bear' series.

Wow!, I'd forgotten about EE 'Doc'Smith, and Clan of The Cave Bear, and... *heads off to the boxes of packed books.

As a look at how cultures can turn out, I found Ian M Banks' books very good. Consider Phlebas is the first of a series.
