Connection & Drops
Constant a/v drops and connection issues (don’t have them on any other sites).
Vague and Confusing Settings
Publish Cam—simple and straightforward
Accept Calls—Why is this necessary? It’s just an extra step for users on each end. It’s also vague. If you’re broadcasting, does Accept Calls mean when users try to view the cam, the broadcaster won’t receive the ‘Accept/Reject’ prompt and will automatically Accept the call on behalf of the broadcaster and allow the user to view the cam OR is it that if it’s disabled, users can’t even attempt to call and view your cam—like you’re not taking calls at the moment?
Public/Private (presumably, as it is not labeled) Toggle—This makes all of it confusing. If toggled to private but ‘Accept Calls’ is enabled, what happens? Default is ‘Public’, but then why is ‘Accept Calls’ necessary? Why is ‘Publish’ necessary? Do users really sit and stare at themselves on cam, while not publishing it to chat and not accepting calls? Why would anyone do that? I can enable Accept Calls, yet not Publish my broadcast—again, why?! If switched to private, users can somehow still view/join…? (Happened to me last night. Thought broadcast was private—until viewer count incremented by 2). Again, if I have a public broadcast, why do I ALSO need to enable ‘Accept Calls’? These config settings are so confusing, it renders them useless. Why can’t we just click a button—‘Start Cam’ or ‘Broadcast’ or something? KISS. Keep It Simple, Stupid.
Dual Broadcast
Camming with another person, where each of you are broadcasting just flat-out doesn’t work. I see my video. The other person’s is just a white box. There’s no settings to fix anything either. If I click on the white box, the box becomes more opaque (grayish color) and a control appears on top of where the video should be displaying. That control—a skip back button… why?! The video isn’t even playing.
Additionally, the other person’s audio doesn’t work. It’s as if there’s no connection or feed whatsoever. I have never gotten this feature to work with anyone.
UI
The UI is awful. It covers almost the entire chat window, leaving only a small sliver at the bottom. Then, if you switch to a chat with another user, the entire video player disappears—it doesn’t minimize into a corner or something sensible. No, it disappears entirely. So, if the broadcast is somehow contained in the chat with the person you were chatting with when you published your cam (considering that whether it displays or doesn’t display is seemingly based on the active chat window), what happens when other users join the broadcast? Is it duplicated/replicated to/in subsequent chats? How does it work?
More Confusion
If I’m chatting with multiple people and decide to publish my cam and make the broadcast Private, who is it private with/to? To myself? To me and the user I’m currently chatting with? To myself and all users I’m currently chatting with? To no one? Again, this is so incredibly stupid.
If I make a broadcast Private but Accept Calls is enabled, then anyone call me and view the cam. Not exactly ‘private’ then, is it? Conversely, if I have a Public broadcast but disable ‘Accept Calls’, then it’s not exactly ‘public’, is it? So one would have to disable Accept Calls (though it is disabled by default). But, if you start as a public broadcast and accept calls but then choose to go private, you would then be required to change two settings to do so (Public/Private and Accept Calls).
