I noticed I received coins. What exactly do they do?

You used to be able to buy people virtual gifts as well. There is talk of bringing that back.

Hey there! It may seem that there are coins that currently seem useless, but thats not quite what they are for. They are for me to steal. I'm like the tooth fairy, but for chat coins.
