In the world of song covers I can but only turn to the Slovenian band Laibach, another who will be making an appearance in the 'unknown but should be known' thread. These guys screwed with everybody's heads in Europe, starting with Tito in then Yugoslavia who banned their use of the name. Gives you some idea.
After releasing their cover of the entire "Let It Be" album by The Beatles, they released twin 12" eps with 6 versions of "Sympathy For the Devil" by The Rolling Stones. This is one of them, and yes they did produce a mass of original material as well.
