D&D

I only played 5e, does that make me a poser? Lol
No just because I played an older edition does not make anyone else a poser. It’s always good to know I’m not the only one lol. What’s your character build currently?

I mostly play 3.5, but I've moved away from d&d towards other tabletop games. However I still deeply love tabletop roleplaying and do it at least once a week.

Almost 15 years ago I came across d&d online. Still runs to this day but plays a lot like 3.5e all races classes and full control over what you do for building. Max lvl is 30 I think but it’s still active which is surprising.

I had to learn on my own how to raise the stats because at first I thought that each level I get to choose to raise each of my stats. By level 10 I was on par for a level 25 which didn’t make sense because the skills weren’t matching my stats. So I began anew and put all points towards the skills and viola! The stats were rising as they should. When I played my first campaign I used the psychic point system as a means towards my character when building my character and monk as a base for the dbz (dragonball z) style build with flight from wizard at class lvl3 and a natural toughness that adds on every 100 times x. X meaning the next upgrade ie first time is 100 dmg, the next upgrade is 200 dmg and so on. By class lvl 5 I created a home brew feat of air combat expertise which pretty much allows me to fly without the concentration check use, of dex as a saving throw when dodging or taking hits in the air, with the advantage of taking on ground enemies, and fighting enemies is the air is the same as if we were on the ground. The qi blasts (kamehamaha wave tri beam cannon etc) were based on some spells from psychic, wizard, and warlock. The energy point gain is based on cha, while the base energy point is 1/2 con (medium creature) there are other home brew feats and skills but I’d have to find the original paperwork to let you know what I have done.

plated 2nd Ed when i was younger and i sometimes play whatever the current one is called with my Niece and her friends :)

We used to make our own classes and races up back in the day, but it was a lot of work.
Depending on how you play, I’ve played 5 character levels to 1 class level so all points went to skills. Every 5 points towards a skill equals to 1 stat point. Ie 5 points added towards concentration makes 1 point added towards con; or 5 points towards diplomacy added 1 point to wis.

Yea... way too much math there for me :D

What was your favorite class?

In that system I run with either a wizard with ranger subclass or vice versa. Sometimes I’ll go pure just for fun. Human (because they get that extra skill point every level) with jackbof all trades (gives +2 to every skill right off the bat). If we did normal stuff like every level is a class level well humans are weak as crap lol. Sometimes I’ll play a little dragonborne mix with fighter just to make it easy.

Assassin build is a lot of fun with the rogue. Especially when you specialize with traps (disarming and arming), light armor since it helps with stealth, add a splash of invisibility magic or potions and you got the ability to kill an entire village without getting caught lol. Enemy or not specifically with light foot ability to nearly negate leaving tracks. Don’t forget the pick locks too that helps a great deal lol.

Best build for what you play. Does not matter what edition but character build. Mine is a firestorm battle mage.

I’ve looked at 5e character sheets and boy oh boy was I surprised! Almost 2/3 of the skills necessary for dc checks (like concentration is the main one) are gone! Not saying 5e sucks but why take away the skills that’s necessary? Wizards and sorcerers need concentration (con skill if anyone didn’t know since it’s the only skill that works around constitution) when they are using spells that requires it! There are several others but all in all too many skills I get as to why they got rid of them but there are a lot more to the skills than meets the eye!

Love CR but have never played 5E. I did a lot of 3E and 2E. Partial to Shadow dancers from 3E. There are stronger builds but that fits my style.
