Detail or story during RP? Which do you prefer more?

Personally, I go in for detail, I want to know about every sensation, every feeling, every thought going through your head. It helps me RP in a more involved way to see how you're thinking about the action. Story is great, but you can get lost in the weeds sometimes with a long build up.

If I get the right person to rp with I can get deep into the game
I enjoy the long game rather than one that is over in half an hour
I try to keep the build up to minimum ( which is usually more than some have in the whole rp)
Details can be added as required

It also depends on the person's writing proficiency. What some people call 'detail', others call bare minimum standards or even sub-standard.
The key is to find players who match what you seek.
If both players are enjoying it, its a good RP, regardless of content.

For me a rich story would lead to a nice detailed scene. I enjoy describing touch, sensations, environment (lighting, sounds..etc), and sometimes personal thoughts just to give the other a perspective if it builds onto the story. My biggest problem is narrowing down a topic/scene.

When I was learning to play (I learned on RP Haven, an adventure RP site) these basics we're insisted upon.

Good rp has 4 things in every reply. 1. Emotional content (How you feel). 2. Descriptions, (Who/where/what/how) 3. Dialogue (or thought bubbles) and 4. a clue to progress the story.

Any less than that, I find the RP lacking and my interest quickly wanes.
