I went mackerel fishing the year before last, which was fun.
I have never fished for them just fresh water stuff

Mackerel fishing is fun - we went on a big ferry, and saw dolphins.
It isn't as skilful as angling because you just dangle the line, reel it out and then gently move it - in a shoal everyone is busy.

When I go out to the river near me it takes some finesse for sure

Here it tends to be coarse fish angling, though I have a neighbour who enjoys trout fishing at a fish farm: he often gives me one.

Fishing is one of my absolute favorite hobbies. Freshwater though. In the winter it's through the ice. During the summer it's kayak.
