Hii there.
I have that on friend, who is good at drawing stuff. really a very nice guy
a few years ago, he made up a character. Its a girl, and he made her up, just for fun.
he confessed to me, he fell in love with her. in his own creation.
He even made pics with his own Character (Some were even NSFW) with were quite nice.
i support him, because he was never good with girls at all.
it makes him happy. I am not judging at all. i am happy for him.
What do you guys think?
 
I mean... as a nerd I love romanticizing and fetishizing fictional characters. I do have a waifu and a husbando. But I also write too and create my own original characters (which I am way too obsessed with) I find this to be normal behavior.

Sounds nice. I think it is a very nice alternative to having a "real" relationship.
he also has OC's with backstorys.
 
I mean, I wouldn't say having a fictional character relationship over a real one is normal. But there's nothing wrong with what he's doing and there's nothing wrong with finding fictional characters desirable. As long as he is able to maintain real relationships, even if they are just friendships. Writing and making characters is a cool hobby.

He had real relationships in the past, but nowadays, he is more of a loner.
And i think he has a nice hobby, and i will always support him! :D
 
His relationship with his fictional character might bring him out of his shell enough to start a real one. And you being supportive and not critical is the sign of a true friend. He is lucky to have a friend like you!
 
In Japan they got those 3D AI holographic ' companion' that 'lives' inside a glass case . It talks to you reads the newspaper for you, and so on. Up to date, about 4000 Japanese guys married their hologram after falling in love with it.
I don't think there is nothing wrong with your friend.
