Definitely a good idea to chat first, find out what kind of Dom / Sub relationship you are both looking for. Take time to find boundaries, likes and dislikes and then go from there. A lot of "Dom" just want someone to do whatever crazy crap they come up with, but they don't care how it makes their "sub" feels or if it's hurting them mentally or emotionally.
