You can see it's fake if you look closer.
We made something like this. Put up a couple around the garden. Seemed to work to keep all the wasps and hornets away. Bumble bees still came.
Too early to tell whether it'll work. Apparently it takes a while or doesn't work if they're already well-established.
I have something like this hanging in the garden (right where there's lots of their activity too):
But the paper wasps don't seem to care. It's been hanging there for a few years too.
They may be coming for the wood to chew on, so I'm covering the surfaces of the trellis/"green house" next.

We have mud wasps close by and my neighbours rotting apple tree in the fall. So it makes for a fun late summer fall environment.
I hang inverted pop bottles starting mid summer. Wine or a little meat inside. It will at least trap the ones that are not scared away.
I have a small space so it’s probably a bit easier to keep them away.
