This was a wonderful night... No kids. No men. It was just 3 sloppy drunken wives drinking cheap wine, grilling steaks and smoking a joint my friend confiscated from her son. 
I know I shouldn't have used a searched photo before, I was just excited.
So, this time, I did take the camera, found the goanna out the back of the building between the BBQ area and the garden rather than on a window sill.
I didn't want people thinking I was making it up.

Think it might be a water monitor. Not sure though, either way sick lizard!
I'm not 100% sure either. I have seen big goannas before but in rural/bushland areas. I don't live far from the river but this is a built up area, unusual.
