Yes, it’s no wonder Reznor received a Grammy nomination for best rock song with it. Reznor praises Cash so much for his cover he said the song was no longer his, and the fact it was released so close to his passing away seems to add meaning to it.

Cash released/covered hurt on 2002 his last song he wrote was Corinthians 15:55 in 2010, good old Google.
