Nobody would be joining the chat, because chat would just be a wall of ewhore spam and scams if mutes weren't automatically implemented. On a free chat website with so much live traffic where registration isn't required, that unfortunately is necessary. Websites routinely die across the web as a result of spam and FCN isn't about to bend over and get fucked in the ass by spammers and scammers.
If we started publishing how mutes and other anti-spam/scam measures worked, scammers, spammers and community abusers would surely immediately start abusing the information for their benefit.
Current strategy works best and it would actually blow your mind if you saw how much effort is in place to keep the chat as enjoyable and trash-free as possible.
VOLUNTEER moderators normally stay civil as far as general information and recommendation replies go, but when users know fuck all about scam and spam management, refuse to acknowledge or comprehend the need for such implement, and make an effort to steamroll the volunteers with "you know fuck all, you need to do this, you need to do that, I know better than you do even know I have no idea how any of this works, fuck your dealings with spammers and scammers" over and over, and over, moderators will eventually "get snarky."
Do not harass the moderators or we'll lose them all and your chat experience will actually become bad, not just a minor inconvenience on a free-of-charge social website which connects people around the world.
Hundreds of thousands of weekly users, 3,000+ users at any given moment, ability to develop new software and growing traffic is a testament to an indisputable fact that FCN is doing things right.
