Mutes for spamming when not spamming

This happened yesterday to me on the new site: i had about 7 or 8 PM windows open from people who had PM-ed me. (Being a woman and just saying 'hi' in a popular group like sexchat will more than often lead to such an amount of PMs.)
Chatting a while with all PM windows in parallel will usually lead to a few of them being silent after a few minutes. When this happened yesterday in about 5 PM windows, I typed the sentence 'What can I do for you?' in all 5 in a short space of time, leading to the moderators message I would be mutes for 1 minute because of spamming. I was then actually muted in all my PMs, and it lasted a lot longer than 1 minute (I eventually logged out).
This has never happened to me in the old chat environment, so I am assuming this has to do with new monitoring techniques for the moderators. But why? I was not spamming, but simply trying to re-energize some conversations with people who contacted me.
I know this isn't really a software issue, but could you maybe tell the moderators to be a bit more distinctive about what is spamming and what is not in the new environment?

That's not the moderators, that's the chat system itself.

Sending the same thing to a bunch of people at once is spammy behavior. There's no way for the system to tell if what you're doing is innocent or not.

This is to prevent people from coming on as female, going "PM me!" and then sending "Hi please visit http://scammer.com/ for free nudes just enter your name/address/phone number!" to everyone who does. And believe me this happens a LOT..
