Thoughts Neighborhood Q&A

Q: How much does the first line matter in a friendly new pm you receive. On whether you will respond or not?

(Example: "how are you tonight?")

Not that I get a lot of new friendly PMs or messages, but on the occasions I do, the first line matters a lot to me. For example, if it is just a "hi" or "hello", I probably won't respond. If there is extensive shorthand (like "hy how r u?"), I am definitely not responding. Add a little context like "Hey, how are you doing?" or "Your name, what does it mean?", then I will most likely respond.

All in all, it doesn't take much to get a response from me, just a bit of effort.

Q: If you were able to call up any forum person right now and have a lengthy phone call. Who would it be?

This is a tough one for me. Most of the people I corresponded with regularly have left. It would have been you and CantBeTamed in like a damn virtual deadlock tie. I would still love to talk to you, because I know you have depth and can carry a conversation.

You are still at the top of my list. Also, maybe I'm breaking the rules a bit by picking one more person, but I think having a lengthy phone conversation with Sunshine22 would be lovely. She can carry a conversation and has substance to her.

Two people are fair!!! LOL
and I love the voice clip feature in chat so if I catch you in the rooms we can do a catch up for sure!!!
I feel like I talked to CantBeTamed on mic on an app before? (I'd have to ask her) But her and I definitely use to spam voice clips back and forth. She's a fun person to talk to!

@WomenRfromVenus_

What is something you do regularly (or semi regularly) that you wish you did not?
So through social media I realized I have an annoying habit. Of trying to relate to people's problems by giving an example of my life. From my POV it's empathy. I'm actually trying to make someone more comfortable in their sharing. While also saying hey I know exactly how you feel. Which is a good thing, right?

Problem is- to other people's POV it can seem like you're making the convo all about yourself. Or like you're trying to one-up their traumatic story with something more traumatic. And they don't like that.

And I have made efforts to catch myself and be more mindful and aware that I'm doing it. But being a natural over-talker by default, and bad habit, find myself reverting back again :confused:
So I'm working on it lol

@Teamster145 you get to travel or vacation to any destination for a Holiday (i.e. 4th of July, Christmas etc). Where are you going and what are you doing?

@Smiling_Tom I assume such a name means you are a friendly guy. What is one thing irl that usually triggers you tho?

@PoliteandNaughty What was one of the best instincts you learned through experience here?
And
what is some advice you would give to a new member?

Best instinct: Don't "force" people to like you. Interact with others, but don't insert yourself in everything on here. It's almost like real life... no one likes a busy body who wants to be involved in everything.

Advice to new members: Be respectful of others and respect boundaries. A lot of people come here to just have fun and escape responsibilities for a bit. No one here owes you anything. If someone doesn't respond to you, move on. You don't like someone here, don't interact with them.

@Allyyyyy

What are people surprised to learn about you?

Where do you find inspiration ?

What 5 albums are you taking to a deserted island?

I struggled with these questions. You made me use my brain. Damn you.

- I did a skydive for an anniversary celebration

- Inspiration for me is drawn from things I find beautiful, people, traits, moments, experiences, shared journeys, words that stick, music, things that make you feel.

- 1. Eliza Doolittle 2. Training day (potter payper) 3. Paradise (Kolohe kai) 4. Kids (Mac Miller) 5. Ministry of Sound - U.K. Garage: The sound of 2000

This is so foreign to me. I'll have to youtube one and check it out. My early 2000s jams mostly consisted of hip hop.
