Every browser in mobile and desktop already saves it, in my experience. Try clearing cookies / website data and see whether the prompt to save the password comes up again.
Make sure that option is enabled in your browser's settings.

The old chat had the option to save right at the login screen.

No it didn't. It had three buttons: CHAT (as a Guesr), LOGIN and REGISTER.
