Hi,

I'm sure there are lots of people here which have a strong cultural background with things you have to do, you shouldn't do. Things you will be judged for, which gonna be disapproved. Culture and upbringing are a big part of who we are. I'm Indian born in France, and i often ask myself what makes me Indian? Is it watching Indian movies, eat Indian foods, respects some so called Indian values like stay virgin until marriage, etc? And what of my desires, my needs in this strong cultural upbringing? Do i have to sacrifice either my desires or the cultural stuff I've been told and repeated to move on with my life, make my own choices?
I find things complicated, and i wonder if i'm the only one experiencing it.

Hi!

No, you are not alone. People all around the globe and along the time strugle with the same thoughts. I am Brazilian, born in Brazil from an Italian family. I lived my first 40 years trying to discover who I am, what values I am suposed to carry, what behaviour I am suposed do show, etc. I started to feel happy when I gave up expectations and lables and focused on what makes me feel good about myself. I then became a better human being.
