Was it the terminology? In the UK 'bollocks' can mean so many things depending on context.

He's bollocked (he's tired)
He's a bollock (he's no good)
He's the bollocks (he's very good)
He's been bollocked (he's been told off)
He talks bollocks (don't trust him)
He has the bollocks (he has the nerve)
And so on.
