Thoughts Positivity and happiness thread.

"Sometimes just your presence in a room can make a difference in people's lives. Especially if you smile. The reassurance that someone is at peace and cares about you can help dissipate your unconscious trauma."

-- Lydia Cornell

"Every day, the psychologists urged us to step back and identify why were experiencing negative emotions. In other words, take a minute to really be conscious of the emotion, instead of just letting it seep in. Don't let your mind stay in neutral. Watch your thoughts. Refusing to get out of bed, or to go to work, or smile at others are all decisions. Find the reasons for those decisions and turn negative feelings into some positive actions. It's not enough to identify why you're feeling bad; it's about having the character to do something positive to take up that space. And don't wallow in your misery, which is just childish self-absorption. That was all good stuff. All I ever need is a good operating manual. The clinic helped me to not jump to conclusions about people, and to see things through their eyes before I just assumed they were stupid and my enemy."

-- Dakota Meyer, on the PTSD clinic at Fort Thomas.

Don't you feel it growing, day by day
People getting ready for the news
Some are happy, some are sad
Oh, we got to let the music play
What the people need
Is a way to make 'em smile
It ain't so hard to do if you know how
Gotta get a message
Get it on through
Oh now mama, don't you ask me why

"A smile. It costs nothing, but means so much. It enriches those who receive it, without impoverishing those that give it. It happens in a flash, but sometimes the memory lasts forever. None are so rich that they can get on without it, and none so poor but are right for its benefits. It is rest to the weary, daylight to the discouraged, sunshine to the sad and nature's best antidote in times of trouble. Yet it cannot be bought, borrowed or stolen, for it is something that is no earthly use to anyone unless given away. And if, in the rush of business, a man is too tired to give you one, then leave one of yours, for no one needs a smile so much as those who have none to give."
