Post your favorite lyrics

People that know me, know I will just post every Nick Cave lyric but a short one to start
"a ten ton catastrophe on a sixty pound chain"
From Jubilee Street always stands out to me.
Short and evocative.

I may as well start with my all-time favorite lyric of all-time ever from maybe my favorite Fall Out Boy song this week

"Sometimes we take chances. Sometimes we take pills" -- Hum Hallelujah

I know what Pete meant when he wrote it. I also know what it means to me, and it's similar. It's the back and forth, the ups and downs of life. You can feel amazing and so confident one day, and then all it takes is one thing for you to hit bottom. And sometimes it's easy and sometimes you need help. Sometimes that help comes in the form of meds. For me, it's ultimately redemptive

If the sun refused to shine
I don't mind
If the mountains fell in the sea
Let it be
Now if a 6 turned out to be 9
I dont mind
If all the hippies cut off their hair
I dont care

Cuz i got my own world to live through
And i ain't going to copy you

Ren - Money Game part 2.

Not a huge fan of the whole song tbh but the second verse is lyrical genius imo. Easier to just post the song instead of all the lyrics lol. Starts at around 1:38.

Here, making each day of the year
Changing my life with the wave of her hand
Nobody can deny that there's something there
There, running my hands through her hair
Both of us thinking how good it can be
Someone is speaking, but she doesn't know he's there
I want her everywhere
And if she's beside me, I know I need never care
But to love her is to need her everywhere

From the great Mr. WorldWide himself
This is for everybody going through tough times
Believe me, I've been there, done that.
But every day above ground is a great day.
Remember that!

You take me in your arms and suddenly there's sunlight all around me. Everything bright and warm and shining like it never did before, and for a moment I forget, just how cold and dark it gets.

All I've ever known is how to hold my own. But tonight I wanna hold you.

I 'spose I can add that it's from "All I've ever known" from Hadestown

Take this letter that I give you
Take it sonny, hold it high
You won’t understand a word that’s in it
But you’ll write it all again before you die

Father to Son by Queen

Obvs I’m not a son, but this whole song is about learning from previous generations even when we don’t realize or appreciate it. As a history major and just a human being on earth, it pushes that intangible button for me

Every thing from Ren is genius!
I think he's a fantastic lyricist. His problem imo is that he set his own standard too high with Hi Ren and Jenny's tale. Now, if his music isn't on par with those songs, it's almost as if it isn't good enough. He pretty much shot himself in his own foot.
