The people who are part of the estate or trust which the house I rent and live in belongs to are in a bitter dispute.
Those people are communicating only through attorneys, because otherwise there's elevated animosity.
The people effectively maintaining and are in-charge of the property I live in are cool and I've been dealing with them exclusively for over a decade.
The people who want this property or want to get rid of it through asset liquidation are not fun to deal with. They suddenly swooped in and want to take control after upstairs neighbor moved out. They keep asking me off-the-wall shit like whether I'm interested in buying or to keep renting, giving weird ass compliments about my upkeep of the property, while the people in charge or the property didn't even know about it lmao.
Neighbor who moved out has been a chain smoker for decades. Upstairs is ruined with layers of tar, nicotine, VOC's, etc—professional remediation is necessary, which means ripping everything out and remodeling or professional cleaning of some sort which would likely cost up to $10k according to limited research.
Besides that, the house is 100 years old and needs electrical rewiring among other issues requiring attention that come with a 100-year-old building.
The only reason I'm still there is because my rent is well below market, plus convenience, garage, etc. So this shit has my mind scrambled for the last few months.
