Well I dunno. From a readership perspective he was passed his best, gonzo was a distant memory I imagine; although he did have a mini-renaissance through that film adaption of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. I suppose Americans are better positioned to say if this is actually the case though.

If I recall rightly he was fired through a cannon at his funeral.
