.... so this is how my winter look daily stage 2 sometimes stage 3 loadshedding (action to reduce the load on something, especially the interruption of an electricity supply to avoid excessive load on the generating plant.)
Meaning between 1 or 3 times a day there is no electricity and no they dont care if its mess up your day and plans for the day you just have to be creative and be prepare and plan around it ... with it comes lots of jokes and fun typical South Africans we don't let it get us under we just outsmart the system and do so with a joke or two in between add to it that we sometimes also may sit without tap water and then things gets intresting .. darkness no water .. no problem we switch to gas and fires for heat and warm water form a river or pool and cooking after all in ZA we can do all on open fires from the moment we are born if you can't beat them you just join them smiling and a joke on the side. I love my country problems and all atlease I know I will survive where ever I go in the world making plans on short notice or no notice at all is something we do naturaly when there is no other choice.. and we keep kon smiling

If ever your faith in the spirit of humanity is shaken, just look for stories of people adapting to hardship, and you may find that faith rekindled.

I will not consider this as hardship really difficult indeed ... hardship is more to be found in the townships where many people stay in shacks where many still us candles and only have a cold water outside tap for water where they start early in afternoon in winter to prepare for the evening kids bath in a big "sink bad" in the middle of the room befor dark there is no warm bath or shower to heated the body wash away the cold. Food is prepare on fire bricks is heated to put in beds for some warm for the cold winter nights. That I consider hardship. Yes in ZA/Africa this is still happening. Yes, and there are always people who have a more difficult life. And yet those people generally find a way to carry on with their lives, and for many of them, to find some happiness. The ability of people to adapt is truly amazing.

My mama use to say you can go sit and cry about what is not or you can get up and make the best of what is ... ... sit and cry and complain will solved or fix nothing right ?

In the States, you get free beer, cheesecake, donuts, sports tickets, sweepstakes, pizza, gift cards, lottery tickets, savings bond, flights, joints, just to incentivize someone into getting the COVID-19 vaccine.

The underlying premise that someone can be bought, made to shake off their reticence (based on whatever belief they have) for less than $1...

First world mentality.

Yep, that drives me bonkers. So much of our society is wrapped around that premise ... and around the associated mentality of exploiting people's vulnerability to being bought, for the purpose of gaining money and power. And so many people here are so blind to it.

Crap, now I'm gonna be fuming all day.

First world mentality is seriously out of balance.
