Question?

I have just noticed, a member's credits do not accumulate if one is simply logged in to the forum. I realise at present, credits mean nothing except a record of time spent on the site. I also know, there has been mention that in the future, the credits will be available for 'purchases', what ever the admin decide the 'purchases' will be. I am finding that the chat is becoming less and less of interest and I am spending more time on the forum lately. My question is, would it be possible to accumulate them while logged in here? I do realise, 'credits' are received in the forum for things like 'likes', 'the number of posts', 'milestones' and similar but I'd like to see them accumulate at the same rate as the chat with 'bonus' credits awarded to the prolific forum contributors if that is possible. When the day does come when the credits mean more than a log of time spent here, only the chat-room chatters will ever see any, regardless if they contribute or not.
I belong to a couple of writers forums and they award credits for word counts, encouraging longer and more prolific postings which in turn encourages member participation in discussions. The 'word count' code must already exist here in some form or other as far as I can tell. I am forever getting notifications that my message exceeds a defined character limit.

It's an interesting thought as often having time to think is good, something chat doesn't allow.

I didn't know that time in chat actually gave you coins as well. I have in paying attention to money after id made 1k.

It would be a nice reward for OPs if a thread they have created gains X amount of likes over it or a certain size as well.

I'm pretty knowledgeable of form systems having run/built a few myself. Though I haven't looked at what base structure this one uses to see what known add ons it has.

It doesn't concern me much, but I had noticed there are members - new members - with a lot more credits than myself. I attributed it to the fact that I don't spend a lot of time in chat, and when I do, I tend to lurk more, but I wasn't aware of the difference between chat credits and forum credits.

Is there a table somewhere that displays credits/action?

Just out of curiosity Lakeside, what would you "buy" with your "credits?" Maybe give an example of what you would want. :)

A lot of us accumulated these credits on the old format chat, before there was a forum. When we switched over to the new format, we we're allowed to bring those credits with us. I would hazard to guess, some of the long-time members would have totals in the millions, if not 100's of 1000's.

I would have to think about that. I only have the memory of what was available here on the old format. There, you could gift a friend anything from a single virtual flower to a virtual tropical island. They were no more than 'attention getters', but it was fun gifting and being gifted by friends and chatters and isn't 'fun', a good reason to be here?
