the model was brought in to stop clubs overspending and going out of business. its not ideal and restricts clubs that could afford to spend more (Newcastle and Aston VIlla for instance and so a smaller degree United too). its impacted the big clubs as well as the small.

It seems to be unless sports clubs are penalized severely in some form by the board of said sports then they will continue to skirt around rules surrounding salary caps and money in general

Really diverse set of opinions on it but what you said makes sense. It will be interesting to see what happens as they continue to win. Can’t think of an American equivalent to this situation .

The crazy part of it is in the game at the weekend City’s team cost £620m, Liverpools cost £632m. As much as City have broken rules and effectively cheated why should they, or Newcastle or Forest or Everton or anyone else not be allowed to spend the same as the likes of Liverpool?
Because they have broken the rules to such a big extent they will be punished heavily, yet Chelsea got away with a £10m fine for similar rule breaches
