our smarties are like M&Ms
Our Smarties are bigger flatter M&M style coloured sugar-shell chocolate
We always had Smarties growing up, but M&Ms have been the bigger brand for ages now

Especially when it comes to eating
Smarties and M&Ms both wartime chocolate so they wouldn't melt in ration packs, the American inventors of M&Ms saw the British Smarties in the Spanish Civil War and copied them a few years later for WWII
Although Forrest Mars (The first M in M&M) was American, he made the first Mars bar in Slough, England
Those are called Rockets in Canada
